On the 16th, I'll be joining Criminal Class Press for their 9-day East Coast reading tour. They put out the journal "Criminal Class Review", and in my opinion are truly the kings of the subversive underground - gritty, raw, bitter, psychotic... From the 16th to the 24th we’re hitting five states. Here's the breakdown from the press release:
October 16th - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is where it kicks off, at Brickbat Books (709 South Fourth St.), winner of Philadelphia Magazines 2009 Best of Philly award. The show starts at 7:00 pm and readers include Lex Sonne, Sam Allingham, Bill Hillman, Michael McCarry, Behnam Riahi, Daniel Porder, Gint Aras.
October 19th - White River Junction, Vermontis out next stop, at Revolution Vintage (26 N. Main Street), the only boutique so distant from the social norms of t-shirts and sandals, that it could only be described as a revolution. Readers include Gint Aras, Bill Hillman, Behnam Riahi, Daniel Porder.
October 24th - New York, New York, the only place where Criminal Class Press could get more criminal, 5:00 pm we stop at Banjo Jim’s (700 E. 9th St, at avenue c), one of the few places in NYC where you can foster inspiration through music and the arts, seven nights a week, every week. Readers include Daniel Porder, Rob Plath, Andrew Riconda, James Lee, George Tabb, Bill Hillmann, Behnam Riahi, and Gint Aras. Musical performances by Painting Soldiers and the headlining band Uncle Monk.
Boston & Washington D.C. TBA.
For anyone into my poetry, or into the literary underground - or just into writing in general - if you live somewhere nearby these venues - then COME, and expect to be blown away.
I plan on giving out free copies of a mini-chapbook along the tour. It's kind of demo, my first collection really - it's called T-Minus: Happily Ever After. It might also be available by mail after the tour if any copies are left.
More info on these readings will be on the Criminal Class website soon. All who can make them should—these line-ups are unbeatable and may never happen again.
